Ingredients

  • 12 oz fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon optional

Instructions

Rinse the cranberries

  • Wash cranberries under cold water. Remove any damaged ones for best taste and quality.

Combine ingredients

  • In a saucepan, add cranberries, sugar and orange juice. Stir gently to mix everything evenly.

Cook the mixture

  • Place on medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil while stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

Let cranberries burst

  • Cook for about 10 minutes until cranberries start popping. This creates a thick and flavorful sauce.

Add zest and spice

  • Stir in orange zest and cinnamon. Mix well to enhance flavor and aroma.

Simmer until thick

  • Reduce heat and cook for a few more minutes. Sauce should become slightly thick but still smooth.

Cool the sauce

  • Remove from heat and let it cool. It will thicken more as it cools down naturally.

Store for later

  • Transfer to a bowl or container. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Serve chilled or at room temperature

  • Serve as a side dish with meals. Enjoy its sweet and tangy flavor.

Notes

  • Use less sugar for a more tart flavor
  • Add chopped nuts for texture
  • Add apple pieces for sweetness
  • Use lemon zest for a twist
  • Make it 2–3 days ahead for best flavor
  • Do not overcook to keep fresh taste
