Ingredients
  

For Strawberries

  • 3 cups fresh strawberries sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

For Shortcakes

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter cubed
  • 2/3 cup milk or cream

For Whipped Cream

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Prepare Strawberries

  • In a bowl, mix strawberries with sugar and lemon juice. Let sit for 15–20 minutes to release juices.

Make Shortcakes

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in butter until crumbly. Add milk and form dough.

Bake Shortcakes

  • Shape dough into small rounds and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden. Let cool.

Make Whipped Cream

  • Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
